Sports In Motown this term has been very interesting and active due to the fact that various sporting programmes and activities were held. Amongst many of these was the Inter-House Athletics Competition which took place on the 6th and 7th of February, 2003.

Before this particular competition, many of the houses were engaged in serious preparations for the competition. This took the form of early morning jogging sessions and gym practice. Other training sessions included pre-competition races where the competition favourites emerged. Among these were Francis Amartefio (Livingstone) and Obodai Johnson (Gyamfi) who showed great determination in their trail races. Guggisberg, as usual were showing off their great capabilities and flashy sports equipment which enabled them to attain a good position at then end of the whole competition.

The day of the competition saw many houses troopping to the games field with their selected female houses amidst "gyama", drumming and dancing, to set the atmosphere for the competition. At the games field was charged with many houses having great hope in their athletes and with great determination to win the Golden Prize. The competition took off in earnest with the at about 1pm with the first few race being the 4x400 heats for both boys and girls. In the famale heats, the first set was won by the Great Clark House and the second set by the Ladies Of Kingsley House. The male's heat saw Fraser (the only western boys house) showing great class and style and making in a time almost equalling the school record. The second male heat was won by the Mighty Blues of G'berg. The next track event was the 100m heat and during that time various field events were taking place. Out of these emerged various stars like Francis Amartefio, Alex Mensah, Obodai Johnson, Elvis Adu-Gyan and Robert Kyei. All these showed grace and skill in their events.

On the second day, the real battle began with the female 4x100m and 4x400m finals, where Lilian Kyei of Clark House along with her companions, dominated the scene by taking almost every event that was held.
A combined team of Nana Poku, Barima Poku, Elvis Adu-Gyan and Tenkorang Somuah Jnr. gathered the 7 maximum points for Fraser in the boys 4x400m finals. The boys 800m finals saw Alex Mensah a. k. a. "Owuo" coming first for Gyamfi and was followed closely by Eloi Mensah Simons of G'berg and Reginald Kyei of Fraser coming 2nd and 3rd respectively.
In the feild events, the Girl's long and high jumps were again won by Clark House with no one giving them any difficult time. They really belittled their opponents. The boys long jump was won by Livingstone House and the Javelin throw by Benjamin Kwapong, Lugard, followed by Isaac Woyome, Fraser, who placed 2nd.

Finally, the day was crowned by the most controversial 100m final ever run, which had to be re-run due to the inability of the judges to determine who crossed the finished line first, even with photo-evidence. The dead lock was broken and Francis Amartefio emerged the winner of the whole event, much to the disappointment of Gyamfi house boys who desprately wanted their star runner, Johnson Obodai, to win.

At the end of it all, Clark House and Fraser House emerged the best Girl's and boys Houses respectively. The trophies were presented to the winning houses for their efforts and the day ended with all sorts of emotions.
