Boarding life is an important ingredient in Achimota. The School has fourteen boarding houses - eight for boys and six for girls. Each house has an average population of 100 students who are supervised by two housestaffs. In the boarding houses students learn to live together with one another. Junior students learn from older students such things as washing, proper laying of beds, gardening and good table manners. Many are the lifelong friendships that have developed over the years between students of the same boarding houses.
This is the picture of the dining hall of the
school. It accommodates the average population
of 950 students of the 10 individual houses found on the eastern compound. The other dining hall is on the Western Compound with a population about 400 students.

The boarders in the various boarding houses undertake various daily routine in their various houses before going to the dining hall for dining.
